We are all familiar with phenomena that can soothe the human eye, such as the flow of water or a burning flame. Utilizing the natural, flexible structure, an idea emerged for an artistic composition solution.
An animated whirlwind or vortex, in my view, actively conveys the vivid emotional color of sound and is capable of expanding the functions of the medium. The constant flow and live splashes in real-time create an atmosphere of dynamism and resemble processes of the physical world.
The setup is designed to demonstrate an example of musical performance design. The connected device - a guitar - serves as a trigger for generative graphics. The visual concept in the form of a rainbow whirlwind is modified as the strings vibrate, dynamically flickering and twisting. The intensity and brightness of the flow changes depend on the amplitude of the vibrations: quiet sound - calm animation and a dark color palette, loud sound - rapid animation of bright flashes of a rushing wave.
This visual can be projected onto a flat screen or onto a volumetric surface, such as a building facade or natural landscape. The setup is relatively simple to assemble, allowing for mobile and quick performance arrangements.
